Principals Morning Tea

The Library was alive with Achievers and their whanau this morning as they gathered for the much awaited principals morning tea. Alize Robinson was one of the lucky Achievers to earn this award and her whanau were all on hand to help celebrate with her.

ACTIVATE

Activate has begun and I choose to run a Mystery Box Activate program. Each week the students will open the box and find any manner of things inside. Working together the students must then use the things to make, create, or become something. This week in the box was some tents, tarpaulins, blankets, sticks, a bag of Minties and other bits and pieces. I think if you check out the photos you will agree that they succeeded. Oh and with the bag of Minties we sat round the campfire and ate them while seeing who could make the longest spiral with the wrapper.

WITH JUST A LITTLE IMAGINATION

I arrived back from lunch today to find a group of students who were waiting for the library to open had decided to utilise the front deck as a stage and were busy practising a dance routine. Such a beautiful day outside so lunchtime library time moved outside. Thanks for the wonderful show girls.

Our First Reading Together Graduates

Check out this bunch of awesome Parents and Whanau who went through our very first Reading Together Programme and came away with some fantastic tips and strategies to help themselves as well as their children. Well done to them for wanting to make a difference in their child's learning. Looking forward to our next group in Term 3.

LEST WE FORGET

Have a safe and happy holiday.Looking forward to seeing our students march on ANZAC day here in Te Puke. Keep on reading. The only thing worse than not reading a book in the last ninety days is not reading a book in the last ninety days and thinking that it does not matter.

WHAT WILL YOU BE READING

School Holidays are nearly upon us again. Where has the first term gone? Just because it is the holidays doesn't mean we should stop reading. While the children are asked to return their books to the library for safe keeping over the break, you are more than welcome to pop in and see me get yourself signed up and take some books home for the holidays for your children or even find something of interest  for yourself. I know I will be reading Michael Morpurgo's A Medal For Leroy and also The Butterfly Lion by him as well.
I am very excited to be a part of The Reading Together Programme Te Puke Primary School will be offering parents in term two, check out the website http://www.readingtogether.net.nz/ and see why I am excited for this programme to be part of our school. Happy Reading
